Oxford House’s Victorian building was designed by Arthur Blomfield, (architect of the Royal College of Music) in 1891, though our origins date back to 1884 when a group of students and graduates began a small settlement in Bethnal Green. As one of the earliest ‘settlement houses’ Oxford House has played an important role in the East End since for over 140 years. On this tour you’ll learn more about the social history of our building, our changing visitors over the years and take a peak into our special extraordinary Victorian archives.

Tours last  approximately 40 minutes.

Booking is essential and tour sizes will be limited.

Please email events@oxfordhouse.org.uk to let us know if you have any additional access and we will plan the tour route accordingly.

Safety at our venue

This tour will take place indoors. We operate a Covid Secure venue and will have a number of measures in place to welcome visitors back safely.

This includes:

Reduced audience capacities and social distancing measures

Ticketing all performances and workshops – no ticket, no entry (before 21 June 2021)

Clear safety signage and one-way systems

Providing Hand sanitiser to all visitors

Enhanced Cleaning

Oxford House is legally obliged to take part in the NHS Test and Trace service. This means that we will need to collect information about audience members and building users, which will only be used to this purpose.

All Visitors Must:

Purchase their tickets in advance. No Ticket, No Entry.

Wear Face Coverings. Unless medically exempt.

Follow social distancing measures when inside our venue

Visitors must follow current government restrictions on ‘the rule of 6’ and household restrictions.

Last but not least, we encourage all visitors to arrive on time and to let us know in good time if they cannot attend. Please do not attend our venue is you are showing any Covid 19 symptoms.

We are a small venue and are trying our best to make events work and ensure that visitors,  artists, staff and our community can enjoy themselves after an incredibly difficult year. Please bear with us as some things may change last minute or be a little bit more complex than we are all used to. We will all work together to figure it out and look forward to finally welcoming you back!
