Local boozers and local breweries: once London was full of them, and Bethnal Green was no exception. But what do you know about the hostelries in Bethnal Green? Which is the oldest of them all? Which was the scene of a public execution? And incidentally, what was one of the twentieth century’s most famous writers doing drunk and incapable in Bethnal Green police station? Hear all these stories and more on a stroll starting at Oxford House and finishing by Bethnal Green underground station.

This tour is is part of Oxford House’s summer programme exploring local heritage and creativity.

Tours last  approximately 90 minutes and will take place outdoors.
