Maja’s experience at Oxford House

I am truly thankful for my heritage internship experience at Oxford House; it was a thrilling journey being able to look into the House’s long and rich history. I enjoyed spending time exploring the archives, talking to historians and people who once visited Oxford House or worked here, writing blog posts and simply taking a stroll to the third floor to admire the Victorian Chapel.

The internship also allowed me to get an insight into the way the House interacts with the local communities and sustains its founding mission today. At the heart of the Oxford House ethos is the provision of an encouraging environment for people who are eager to learn about heritage, arts and local communities. Indeed, Oxford House has always been about the people, and it really was a great pleasure to work with and learn from its passionate team of volunteers and staff.
