Big Dance 2012 will take place across the UK from 7-15 July 2012 and is the UK’s biggest celebration of dance.
The Language of Dance Trust, Green Candle Dance Company and Oxford House have joined together to host an Open House during Big Dance Week 2012.
It is open to all abilities and no previous dance experience is necessary, plus it’s all completely FREE!
5th – 20th July Dance Exhibition (open daily 9am – 10pm)
Come and have a look round a fantastic exhibition of dance photography and digital art by Tracey Fahy.
11th (Wednesday) Family Day
Free DancePlay sessions (for parents/carers and toddlers aged 1 – 3 years) at 10am or 2pm and sessions include nursery rhymes and songs, physical movement exploration, storytelling, relaxation, fun and laughter! At 3.30pm a Dance Adventures session (for parents/carers and children aged 4- 6 years old) will include games, creative movement and fun! At the end of each session there is a chance for you to chat and meet new people. Healthy snacks will be provided.
13th (Friday) SagaCity!
SagaCity! – A dance festival dedicated to older people. From 10.30 to 1 come and experience free dance taster workshops for over 50s (different styles) NO EXPERIENCE REQUIRED. From 5pm come to see a very special showcase where older people’s dance companies and groups will be performing for you. An opportunity to get inspired and to get more information on how to join an activity/dance groups in your borough. The day is open to anyone aged 50+ who wants to participate in dance and to anyone (of any age!) to watch the performances.
14th (Saturday) FREE Taster Dance Day for All
Open to everyone, from 2 to 5 you will have the chance to experience different dance styles (from Zumba to Street or Bollywood) from the hands of our special guest artist; this day will give you the chance to discover something new. Light refreshments, music and freestyle dance from 5pm. Come and have some fun with your children, parents, grandparents or friends!
All our workshops and events are limited on space and places will be allocated on a first come first served basis.
