Happenstance is a retrospective exhibition of black and white photographs taken by London based photographer David Solomons.
Solomons aims to capture the optimal emotive display in specific everyday public situations whilst incorporating elements of ambiguity. The exhibition provides the viewer with a sense of irony, as images that appear to be mundane or poignant are portrayed as entertaining or moving, allowing the viewer to empathise with the images they are confronted with.
The photographs were shot in a variety of locations, form Greece to New York, that Solomons visited over the years. His images were shot in their natural state with no manipulation involved to enhance the scene. Solomonsí abstract observations of everyday public life portray to the viewer that reality is far more interesting on the surface then it appears to be whilst we are living it.
Solomons now intends to tackle the elegant and polished tone that is set by black and white photography. Solomons is now developing his perceptually unique style in colour which hopes to banish any disguise that the black and white classical colour scheme can provide.
