Oh! Trustee’s Interview: Michael Judge

Michael is a theatre-maker & educationalist who has lived locally for 20 years & used to teach near to Oxford House. He currently works for the Royal Opera House Bridge and as Associate Director for NIE Theatre. He has held previous Associate roles at Dundee Rep, Theatre Centre and A New Direction. He is a Fellow of the RSA.

Bringing my skills to make a difference at OH. I have known Oxford House and the local area for over twenty years; I wanted to continue this connection in the role of a trustee. I wanted the challenge of applying my knowledge of arts organisations to make a difference at OH.

I have gained insight and understanding about the importance of Teamwork & how a board relates to the CEO. The Strategy & Accounting is just as important as the Heritage.

We are all here working together for a cause we value. The best thing is feeling part of a team trying to make a difference to something I care about. The worst thing is a leaky roof in the building!

OH has broadened my horizons. Being a trustee has widened my perspectives on the Heritage industry & the way charities are run.

There are 3 key points to think about when deciding to become a trustee: Make sure you have enough time to commit to all the meetings, read the paperwork & make sure it is a charity that you really care about.
