Oxford House is a Fun Palace!

In 1961, Joan Littlewood and architect Cedric Price conceived the Fun Palace as a ‘laboratory of fun’, ‘a university of the streets’. It was to be a temporary and movable home to the arts and sciences that would welcome children and adults alike. This wasn’t possible in 1961; it’s very possible now. FREE, FUN and LOCAL activities will pop up all across the Uk very very soon!

and Oxford House will be also a Fun Palace!

We have composed a programme of FREE, FUN and LOCAL activities on the 4th of October as a result of the fantastic presentations made by five individuals and groups during The Pitch competition, part of The Knowledge Arts Festival.

11am-2pm Lon-Art.Org: Art-Lab Experiment

Family Activity open to all (Drop-In)

Art-Lab Experiment reproduces the idea of collaboration between art and science, and establish a parallel with the cooperation that exists between the artist and the participants. Our objective with this project is to create a laboratory where participants will embrace the experience of creating artworks by using natural chemistry while reflecting upon this beautiful symbiosis between art and science.

  1. Prepare your own pigments out of fruits and vegetables
  2. Add tints to pictures
  3. Exhibit them!

2pm-4pm Rose Hughes: Draw-iousity

Family Activity open to all (Drop-In)

Draw-iousity hands you the most powerful tool in the world, a tool which makes the connection from eye to brain to hand, a tool which unlocks ideas and communicates across boundaries.

This tool is… a beautifully sharpened HB pencil! So whether you’ve been drawing since you were in nappies or only doodle while on the phone, come and meet your neighbours and cover Oxford House in drawings. Portraits of each other will be hung up in grand frames on the wall, your house and your family can be added to a great big map of Bethnal Green,  and drawings of your favourite pet chicken can grace our pets pin-board of fame!

7pm Do Not Adjust Your Stage: Wunderkammer
