Sagacity! – An Old Saga

Green Candle Dance Company is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year, and is one of the UK’s leading dance companies. The company aims to bring dance as participation and performance to all parts of the community and all age ranges; they believe that dance can help people to be healthier and bring communities closer together.

Sagacity! – The festival of dance for older people by older people, organised by Green Candle, is back at Oxford House. The festival is taking place over two days. Day one on Monday 3rd July, will have a ‘back to 87’ theme, where participants are immersed in the music of 1987, from Michael Jackson themed dance workshops to the iconic Dirty Dancing. If you aren’t already eager to attend, then maybe the free lunch will be the tipping point! Great music, dance and lunch would be the perfect way to meet lots of new people in the community.

However, if you just want to soak up the festival spirit then take the opportunity to enjoy the gala performances. Day two, on Tuesday 4th of July, is set aside for performances, where some of London’s most diverse older people’s dance companies will be performing their routines for the enjoyment of all.

The gala performances are sure to be a wow as can be seen from quotes from previous Sagacity events:

“Eclectic mix of dance, very high standard, innovative, provocative and entertaining. Long may it continue.”

“I didn’t know what to expect but I completely and thoroughly enjoyed it. Very inspiring!”
