Spreading the word about Oh!
Oxford House took an excursion to Queen Mary University this week! As you all know, Oh! could not function without all the help from our volunteers, and so we decided to attend a Volunteering Fair at the University’s Students’ Union Hub in order to recruit some more!
The Volunteering Centre Tower Hamlets organised the day alongside Queen Mary Students’ Union, the former of whom specialise in recruiting volunteers for non-profit organisations in our area. The fair was open to those who live, work, and study in Tower Hamlets.
At the fair, Anna, Farzana, and Ronan took their places behind Oh!’s very own stand in order to tell everyone a little bit more about us and what volunteering positions we currently have on offer. We were joined by over 30 other non-profit organisations that are located within Tower Hamlets. It was truly humbling to see the wealth of man-power that goes into helping sustain and develop our local area.
Also humbling was the amount of people that were interested in volunteering for a local cause! The guys on our stand did a great job at explaining what we do at Oh!, and we got a mass of email addresses from people who were interested in signing up as a result of this!
It was great to spread the word about OH!, and if the interest at the Volunteering Fair is anything to go by then we will shortly be seeing a lot of new faces around here!
