Join us in our atmospheric Victorian chapel for a special screening of Mark Jay’s classic piece of diasporic oral history, East Endings. The film documents a night at Bloom’s in 1993 – then one of the last remaining kosher restaurants in Whitechapel. Renowned Cartoonist Harry Blacker arrives to celebrate his 83rd birthday with old friends as they spend the evening together reminiscing about the Jewish East End of the 1930s. Featuring Anna Tzelniker, Barnet Litvinoff, Bill Fishman, Brian Sewell, Simon Blumenfeld, and Rabbi Lionel Blue, this film will be shown in our chapel and will be followed by a Q&A with director Mark Jay. 100% of the Filmmaker’s fees for this event will be donated to the Red Cross’ Israel and Occupied Palestinian Territory Appeal. This event forms part of our History House programme – at special project celebrating Oxford House’s 140th anniversary and East London’s extraordinary history.
