Join us for a series of fun, hands-on family workshops celebrating the rich textile traditions of East London with textile artist Anne Ogazi!

Inspired by the vibrant weaving heritage of the East End from the French Huguenots of the 18th and 19th centuries to the Bangladeshi textile trade of the 20th century, these creative sessions lead by Anne invite families to design and make their own section of a collaborative community banner.

The final community banner will be displayed in the ‘Made In The East End’ exhibition at Oxford House in 2026!

  • Come and weave your own part of history in these fun, relaxed and colourful hands-on sessions.
  • Add buttons, beads, threads and fabrics to reflect who you are and the amazing history of textiles in the East End.

Don’t miss this unique opportunity to spend time together as a family while learning new skills and exploring local heritage. These workshops offer a meaningful way to connect across generations through creativity and storytelling. Children will love the chance to play with textures and colours, while adults can share memories or discover something new about East London’s vibrant past. Come along, make something beautiful together and be part of a lasting artwork that celebrates the diversity and spirit of the East End!
