Guardian book to look out for in 2024**
‘A compelling story from a gifted storyteller … In a moment where refugees are often talked about but rarely heard from, her voice breaks through’ GARY YOUNGE

Coinciding with the launch of her new book Scattered, journalist Aamna Mohdin will discuss her own experiences as a refugee arriving in the UK aged seven, after her parents fled Somalia. Piecing together her families’ scattered history, Aamna’s journey takes her to Somalia, and then to the refugee camp in Kenya that was her home in early childhood. Aamna will be discussing identity, reunions, trauma and above all – the defiance and joyful celebration of family and the third culture kid experience. Aamna will be in conversation with Samira Musa and signed copies of her book will be available to purchase on the night.

Samira Musa is a British-Somali film and TV producer with extensive experience in corporate and film finance. She is currently at Netflix as the Global Franchise Coordinator. Her passion for exploring, capturing and showcasing the evolving complexities of the human race led her to producing film, TV, documentaries and audio productions.
