Oxford House are recruiting for a part time Heritage Trainee (9 month contract) to support our Made in the East End programme.

About the Project

Made in the East End, an initiative funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund (NLHF). We are delivering an inspiring programme of work, bringing our community together to learn, exchange ideas and create new public artworks, writing and performances. Responding to local history and to our archive, residents, artists, writers and performers are exploring and celebrating four strands of work: East End Textile Heritage, Radical Working-Class Writing, Community Curators and an artist residency for British Somali creatives. 

 

The Role  

Working closely with the Arts & Heritage Producer and Community Heritage
Co-ordinator, this is an exciting opportunity to develop skills in planning, delivery, and evaluation of arts and heritage activities. The ideal candidate will have experience and interest in visual storytelling and creating engaging digital content to support Made in the East End delivery and grow participation.  

 

The successful candidate will receive mentoring opportunities and specialised training to support their future development and career progression once this project is completed. 

 

Learning & Development:  

As well as building upon content creation skills, the postholder will gain development in the following areas: 

  • Arts and heritage programming
  • Interpretation 
  • Conservation care 
  • Evaluation and reporting  
  • Project management and administration  
  • Teamworking  

 

Training Opportunities: 

  • Monthly mentoring session with the Arts and Heritage team 
  • Professional Development training and access to GEM courses, training and events, including learning resources, conferences and talks  
  • Mandatory Training such as Risk Assessment training, Safeguarding training and Fire Evacuation Training 

Salary:
£14.80 per hour, 21 hours or
3 days a week (plus one-hour unpaid lunch break) for 9 months (April 2026-December 2026).

The right candidate will need the flexibility, eagerness, curiosity to learn and a positive approach to working in a community arts and heritage setting.
