Front of House (Maternity Cover) Aug 2026 – Sept 2027

Pay: £14.80 per hour
Location: Oxford House, Bethnal Green, London
Hours: Guaranteed weekly hours, including regular evenings and occasional weekends
Closing date: Monday 17 August 2026 at 5pm

We are looking for a confident, dependable and approachable Front of House Maternity Cover to join our team in Bethnal Green, East London.

Oxford House is a community, arts and heritage charity offering creative programmes, affordable workspace, venue hire, exhibitions and a welcoming community café.

About the Front of House role

You will provide a welcoming and professional service for:

  • Visitors and members of the local community
  • Venue hirers and event guests
  • Resident organisations
  • Artists and programme participants
  • Café customers

You will help ensure that Oxford House is safe, welcoming and presented to a high standard. You will also support the smooth operation of events, venue hires and activities taking place throughout the building.

Key responsibilities

The role will include:

  • Welcoming visitors and providing excellent customer service
  • Supporting venue hires, events and building activities
  • Preparing rooms and public areas for customers and hirers
  • Helping maintain high standards of presentation and cleanliness
  • Responding appropriately to customer enquiries and concerns
  • Following health and safety and emergency procedures
  • Supporting accessibility and inclusive customer care
  • Assisting with basic café and audiovisual operations following training

Applicants should have an understanding of health and safety, emergency procedures, accessibility and inclusive customer care.

Experience in front of house, hospitality, customer service, events, cafés, community venues or arts organisations would be useful.

Interviews, training and start date

Interviews are expected to take place during the week commencing 24 August 2026.

The anticipated start date is during the week of 10 September 2026. These dates may be subject to change.

Interviews and training will take place in person at Oxford House. Training will include:

  • Café training
  • Basic audiovisual equipment training
  • Building and Front of House procedures
