Oxford House Archive: 100+ Years of Fashion at Oxford House
Emily Hughes – Archivist
Since Oxford House was founded in 1884, its residents have changed a lot – as has what they wore. From our archive, we’ve selected images that exemplify some of the fashion trends throughout time, from the late 19th century to the early 21st. Scroll through to see how style in East London has changed over the years, from the flatcaps of the Repton working mens club in the 1910s, to the sports caps of the 2000s.
More images like this are available on our new digital archive here. We unfortunately do not know the identity of many of the people in these photographs, nor who took them. If you recognise yourself, a friend, or any kind of loved one in any of these photos, we’d love for you to get in touch and share your memories with us at OHArchive@oxfordhouse.org.uk. Alternatively, please share your own photographs and memories of your time at Oxford House – especially of anything iconic that you’ve worn here in past decades!
