Oxford House Archive: How to Use

Oxford House Digital Archive: How to Use

Emily Hughes – Archivist

As part of our NLHF ‘Through the Lens’ project, Oxford House has a new fully-catalogued digital archive accessible to the public. We’ve worked to list all the records in our collection, and digitise over 300 items for our newly-launched archive website.

Browse through our collection to discover our story from settlement house to vibrant community arts centre, with records exploring and detailing the changes over the last century and a half. From photos taken in the 1930s of staff and residents working and living in the house, to the short-lived Oxford House art magazine created by the youth club in the 70s, our archive has a variety of records about the past and present of our building. Equally, to see some highlights from our collection, please visit our June feature for Archives Hub here!

To use the archive, visit our digital archive here where a banner will greet you. Here, you can explore the digital archive via theme, by search, or by a timeline of all records. If you’re looking for names or organisations, using the ‘search’ function will bring up any instances of them within the records. Searching for ‘youth club’, brings up these records, for example.

If you’d like to see any records in person, email us at OHarchive@oxfordhouse.org.uk to discuss coming in. Moreover, if you have any records or memories of Oxford House that you wish to share with us, we’d love for you to get in touch. Finally, we hope you enjoy browsing through memories of Oxford House!
